Examples

Use these examples to compose a view, work with two cameras, or return to a saved pose. Start from a saved scene copy and the Quick Start.

Goal: use Scene navigation to position your camera, then keep the resulting pose.

Prerequisites: Primary assigned, Position and Rotation on, a configured Toggle key, and visible geometry.

  1. Store Primary’s original pose if you want a way back.
  2. Leave Self align off.
  3. Activate from Scene View and navigate until the camera is positioned as desired. Check Game View’s actual framing.
  4. Focus Scene View and press the Toggle key to stop.
  5. Inspect the camera pose, then save the scene.

Result: the camera stays at its last followed pose. Do not click Align if you want to keep this new position. Adjust lens settings on the Camera itself; Camera Tool does not copy them from Scene View. Storing the new pose would replace your previous return origin.

Goal: move a main camera while rotating a second camera that stays at its authored position.

Prerequisites: two distinct scene Cameras with their rendering arrangement already configured. Camera Tool does not configure clear flags, layers, or camera composition.

  1. Stop following and assign the main camera to Primary camera: and the background camera to Secondary camera:.
  2. Turn on Primary Position and Rotation.
  3. Leave Secondary Position off and turn Rotation on.
  4. Store origins separately for both slots. Leave Self align off for this exercise.
  5. Activate from Scene View and navigate.
  6. Stop through the Scene key. To return both cameras, click Primary Align to origin, then Secondary Align to origin.

Result: both cameras use Scene View rotation, while only Primary follows position. Secondary does not read Primary’s transform. Turning on Secondary Position too makes both use the same followed position; no custom separation is preserved.

Goal: explore a scene without losing a chosen camera return pose.

Prerequisites: assigned camera, available Scene View, saved scene copy.

  1. At the intended return pose, click Store origin.
  2. Activate and navigate from Scene View.
  3. Click that slot’s Align to origin when finished.
  4. Verify the resulting world position and rotation before saving.

Result: following stops globally and that camera returns to its stored pose. For callback-based restoration instead, enable Self align after storing and stop through the Scene key. The Inspector Enabled checkbox does not run Self align.

Begin Scene navigation from the current game camera

Section titled “Begin Scene navigation from the current game camera”

Goal: start exploring from Primary’s current placement.

Prerequisites: Primary assigned and Scene View available. Store an origin separately if you will want restoration.

  1. Stop following and place Primary at the desired starting pose.
  2. Enable Primary Match Scene to Game.
  3. Activate through the configured key in Scene View, then refocus Scene View if needed.
  4. Navigate and stop deliberately when finished.

Result: the active callback requests a perspective Scene View at Primary’s current pose. It does not start from the stored origin or match optics. Checkbox activation skips this operation.

For camera inspection during gameplay, use the Editor Play Mode procedure and review Scripting integration.
