Installation
This page gets Camera Tool into your project and checks that its Editor controls are available. You will configure the scene in the Quick Start.
Before importing
Section titled “Before importing”Save your project and use a scene copy for initial setup. Read Compatibility and limitations before configuring the tool in your Unity project.
Camera Tool is an Assets-based product, not a UPM package. The original scripts do not require a third-party dependency, renderer feature, or shader conversion. The packages and ProjectSettings in a source project are not an installation checklist for your project.
Import the product
Section titled “Import the product”- Use the import route provided with your purchased or downloaded asset. For an Asset Store purchase, this is normally the My Assets import route in Unity’s Package Manager.
- Import the complete Camera Tool folder. The folder is Assets/FORGE3D/CameraTool/ and contains
F3DCameraTool.cs,F3DCameraToolEditor.cs, their metadata, theIconfolder, and the included PDF manual. - If copying an existing source folder, preserve its
.metafiles. Do not replace your project’s ProjectSettings with those from the source project. - Keep both scripts together in their original arrangement. Do not move only
F3DCameraToolEditor.csinto a separate Editor assembly: the original scripts directly reference one another. - Wait for Unity to finish importing and compiling. Resolve compilation errors before using the tool; avoid duplicate copies of these classes from other packages.
Verify installation
Section titled “Verify installation”- Confirm that both scripts appear in the Project window.
- Confirm that the Forge3D > CameraTool menu is available.
- Open a saved scene with an enabled Camera on an active GameObject and make Scene View available.
- Continue to Quick Start to add the component and verify camera assignment.
The setup menus add a component; they do not create cameras. Do not run Auto setup or Setup default in a scene with no enabled cameras: both commands fail in that condition. If setup is unavailable, check for an existing Camera Tool component and configure it instead.
If the menu is missing or compilation fails, see Troubleshooting.
