Inspector reference
The component appears as F3D Camera Tool (Script). Use one tool instance and verify its camera references before editing. Multiple locked Inspectors can display and edit the wrong tool. Field and action Undo is unreliable; save a scene copy first.
Fresh defaults below describe a newly added component. Existing serialized values take precedence. AutoSetup fills references and follow flags only when both camera slots are empty; it always sets Toggle key to C. Other settings and origins are unchanged.
Camera selection:
Section titled “Camera selection:”| Exact setting | Purpose and default |
|---|---|
| Primary camera: | Scene Camera reference; empty on a fresh manual component. Automatic assignment chooses the highest-depth enabled camera. Required by Match Scene to Game. It does not mean Camera.main. |
| Secondary camera: | Optional second scene Camera; empty initially. Automatic assignment chooses the second highest-depth camera if available. Use a different camera from Primary. |
Changing a reference does not capture or reset that slot’s origin. The Follow options:, Camera settings:, and Stored origin: controls for a slot appear only when its camera is assigned.
Follow options:
Section titled “Follow options:”The labels Position and Rotation occur independently under each assigned camera.
| Setting | Fresh / automatic default | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Position | Off / on | Follows Scene View world position with the fixed 0.1-unit backward offset. |
| Primary Rotation | Off / on | Copies Scene View world rotation. |
| Secondary Position | Off / off | Same position rule; leave off to keep a background camera at its authored position. |
| Secondary Rotation | Off / on | Same rotation rule, independent of Primary. |
These controls require global Enabled, the assigned camera, and the last active Scene View. Enabling only one channel leaves the other unfollowed. No optics or render configuration is copied. If both slots follow position, they use the same target position rather than preserving an inter-camera offset.
Camera settings:
Section titled “Camera settings:”Self align
Section titled “Self align”Present for both cameras. Default off, unchanged by AutoSetup. When the inactive callback runs, an assigned slot with Self align on restores both its stored world position and rotation, regardless of follow flags.
Store an origin first. Use the Scene Toggle key path for callback-based stopping. The custom Enabled checkbox and lifecycle transitions do not provide universal Self align behavior. See Self align when stopping.
Match Scene to Game
Section titled “Match Scene to Game”Present only for Primary. Default off, unchanged by AutoSetup. When the active callback runs, it matches Scene View to the current Primary pose and requests perspective viewing. It requires Primary and an available Scene View.
This uses the current camera pose, not the origin, and does not synchronize projection or lens properties. Inspector checkbox activation skips it.
Stored origin:
Section titled “Stored origin:”Each camera has its own copy of these fields and buttons.
| Exact control | Purpose and behavior |
|---|---|
| Position | Editable stored world position. Fresh value is (0, 0, 0), not an automatically captured pose. Editing it does not move the live camera. |
| Rotation | Editable stored world rotation displayed as Euler degrees. A fresh component has no captured camera rotation. Click Store origin before restoring, even if the displayed angles are zero. |
| Store origin | Replaces this slot’s stored position and rotation with the assigned camera’s current world pose. Leaves activation unchanged; no history is retained. |
| Align to origin | Clears global Enabled and restores this slot’s full stored pose. Does not invoke the other slot’s Self align. |
AutoSetup leaves origins unchanged. Store again after reassigning a slot. Do not rely on Undo to recover Store or Align changes.
General settings:
Section titled “General settings:”Toggle key
Section titled “Toggle key”Fresh default None; AutoSetup sets C. Select a non-None key for configured-key activation. Scene View responds when Shift is not held. The fixed Scene Shift+C selection command is independent of this setting. Editor Play Mode input polling has different activation semantics; see Keyboard shortcuts.
Enabled
Section titled “Enabled”Fresh Editor-domain default false; AutoSetup leaves it unchanged. This is the tool’s global, transient following flag, not a saved per-instance preference. The Inspector writes it directly, without start/stop alignment callbacks. It can remain stale after the tool is disabled or destroyed.
Do not confuse this with the inherited component enable checkbox in the header. Neither a disabled component nor an inactive host reliably prevents the original Scene hotkey from activating the tool.
Enable in Game view
Section titled “Enable in Game view”Default on, unchanged by AutoSetup. Enables the Game View input-handling path and Editor Play Mode legacy input polling. It does not disable Scene following or prevent the Scene hotkey from focusing Game View.
For forwarded navigation, keep a Scene View available and a camera assigned. Use Scene View if Game View input is difficult to control, and stop the tool before returning to gameplay.
Quiet mode
Section titled “Quiet mode”Default off, unchanged by AutoSetup. Hides the product’s in-view notification labels. It does not mute Console warnings, hide Inspector help, or stop input forwarding.
Experimental features
Section titled “Experimental features”This foldout belongs to the original tool. It starts closed for a fresh Editor instance and is not a serialized camera setting. Expanding it shows the focus warning and Game window focus.
Game window focus
Section titled “Game window focus”Default off, unchanged by AutoSetup. Requests Game View focus again after forwarded input. It depends on Game View support, active forwarding, an assigned camera, and a Scene View. It can produce unexpected results and does not control the separate focus change after the Scene hotkey.
Informational messages
Section titled “Informational messages”The Inspector warns when no key is assigned, or when Enabled is on with neither camera assigned. Scene/Game labels include the tool’s status and missing-camera or missing-options guidance; Game View also has missing-Scene and paused messages.
A Secondary-only configuration can show a misleading missing-Primary warning. Quiet mode hides in-view labels but not Inspector help. Check references and flags directly rather than interpreting a hidden warning as successful configuration.
